Now more than ever, we are facing a global water crisis. Increased water demand from a growing population and global health pandemic is paradoxically being met with climate-related water scarcity, flooding, rising sea levels, water quality challenges, and inadequate or aging infrastructure. Specifically in the US, water and wastewater utilities face a myriad of issues including water affordability, an aging workforce, and governance complexities. The Water Center at Penn is dedicated to solving these issues through collaborative, cross-disciplinary research that provides innovative solutions and helps attract the next generation of leaders to the water sector.
