This panel discussion will look at the importance of pools as tools to help lessen the impacts of climate change on communities of color as well as to examine and address issues of equity and inclusion.

In this one-hour session, our panelists explore the connection between water, social justice, and public health and discuss the lack of safe access to water for recreation.

We’ll hear from the masterminds behind “Pool: A Social History of Segregation,” the multidisciplinary museum exhibition set in Fairmount Water Works, a National Historic Landmark Museum in Philadelphia. We’ll also hear from the co-founders of “We Can Swim!” which teaches water safety and social responsibility to underserved youth, specifically those of the African American and Hispanic communities who are disproportionately affected by limited access to water safety resources. We’ll have a water industry expert lead us in solution-based discussions around environmental justice and water access for recreation in our most underserved communities.
